Predicting the Future

Just about everyone would like to know something about the future; it seems to be human nature. Most of us check the weather forecast, for example. How likely is it to rain tomorrow? Should I take an umbrella?

Functional medicine testing is a similar type of forecast. It can help us be aware of possible increased risk of certain health challenges. For example, it is possible to determine when there is an increased possibility of developing diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, kidney disease, and other health issues.

Modern functional medicine is able to predict a high probability of developing chronic health conditions. Laboratory tests and other medical examination procedures can detect problems before they become serious, which allows us to make positive changes.

Pre-diabetes is a good example. A person who is pre-diabetic is at least two and a half times more likely to become fully diabetic. The good news is, with modifications in diet, exercise, and nutritional support this can almost always be turned around.

Holistic health care, as practiced here at Health+Plus Clinic, provides you with insight into possible future health problems and recommendations to potentially avoid serious health problems.

What is Holistic health care?

Holistic health care is an approach to wellness that emphasizes the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit. It goes beyond treating symptoms and aims to address the root causes of health issues by considering the whole person and their lifestyle. In this comprehensive approach, practitioners consider various factors such as physical, mental, emotional, social, and environmental aspects of an individual’s life.

To that end, one of the significant benefits of holistic health care is its focus on prevention and proactive measures to maintain overall well-being. By considering the interconnectedness of various aspects of health, holistic practitioners can provide insights into potential future health problems that may arise based on an individual’s current health status, lifestyle choices, and other factors.

Through a detailed assessment and analysis, holistic health care practitioners can identify risk factors, early signs, and markers that indicate the possibility of developing serious health conditions in the future. This holistic approach allows for a more comprehensive understanding of a person’s health, beyond the immediate symptoms or concerns they may have.

With the knowledge of potential future health problems, holistic health care practitioners can provide personalized recommendations and interventions to help individuals potentially avoid or minimize the impact of those health issues. These recommendations often encompass a wide range of strategies, including lifestyle modifications, dietary changes, stress management techniques, physical activity, natural remedies, and complementary therapies.

For example, if we, as a holistic health care practitioner, identify certain risk factors for cardiovascular disease in a patient, we may suggest dietary modifications such as reducing saturated fat intake, increasing fiber consumption, and recommending regular exercise to improve cardiovascular health. Additionally, we may also recommend stress reduction techniques, such as meditation or yoga, to support overall well-being.

By adopting these proactive measures and making necessary lifestyle changes, our patients can potentially reduce their risk of developing serious health problems in the future. Holistic health care’s emphasis on prevention and early intervention aligns with the notion that taking care of one’s overall well-being can lead to better long-term health outcomes.
